The Basic Instructor Training and the Home Firearms Safety Instructors course will be held on October 15th.
If you are looking to become an NRA-certified instructor to teach CHL classes, this is the course for you.
Brief overview of the class you will be certified to teach:
NRA Home Firearm Safety Course
*This course meets the Oregon CHL requirement for safe gun handling.
Short Description : Non-shooting course and teaches students the basic knowledge, skills, and to explain the attitude necessary for the safe handling and storage of firearms and ammunition in the home.
More Details: This is a four-hour course for safe gun handling that is conducted in the classroom only. Students are taught NRA’s three rules for safe gun handling; primary causes of firearms accidents; firearm parts; how to unload certain action types; ammunition components; cleaning; care; safe storage of firearms in the home; and the benefits of becoming an active participant in the shooting sports. Students will receive the NRA Home Firearm Safety handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, course completion certificate.

* To qualify for any NRA Instructor Course, students must first complete the Basic Instructor Training (BIT) course. BIT will be given on the first day of all Instructor-level courses. If you have taken BIT for prior instructor’s ratings you are not required to take it again, but you are required to bring your 2008 or later Trainer’s Guide to the course.
