1. NRA Personal Protection Inside the Home Instructor Course:

Dates: April 28th & April 29th, 2012

Times: Saturday & Sunday 9am-6pm

Cost: $65 with a required $25 deposit by April 26th to hold your spot.

Course Outline

This course includes the Basic Instructor Training (BIT), Student Personal Protection in the Home Course,
and Instructor Personal Protection Course.

Prerequisite

  • Proof of shooting experience is required. This can be established by one of the following;
    • NRA Basic Pistol Course Certificate
    • NRA FIRST Steps Course Certificate
    • NRA pistol competitive shooting qualification card
    • Military DD 214 with pistol qualification
  • If you do not have one of the above you will be required to pass a

  • We now require a non-refundable deposit on our courses. Mailing address and PayPal address will be provided upon signup.

Please Bring the following Items With You To Class:

  • Firearm (Revolver or Semi-Automatic)
  • A minimum of 200 rounds of Ammunition
  • Mandatory safety equipment: eye protection, ear protection, and billed cap
  • Sack lunch as we may work through the lunch hour
  • Check for NRA Certification Fees
  • Writing materials to take notes
  • Positive attitude and a willingness to learn

2. NRA Personal Protection Outside The Home Student Course:

Dates: May 19th & May 20th, 2012

Times: Saturday & Sunday 9am-6pm

Cost: $150 with a required $75 deposit by May 16th to hold your spot.

Course Outline

The course teaches students the knowledge, skills and attitude essential for avoiding dangerous confrontations
and for the safe, effective and responsible use of a concealed pistol for self-defense outside the home.
Students have the opportunity to attend this course using a quality strong side hip holster that covers
the trigger, or a holster purse. From a review of safe firearms handling and proper mindset to presentation
from concealment and multiple shooting positions, this course contains the essential skills and techniques
needed to prevail in a life-threatening situation.

This is a 14 hour course with extensive time on the shooting range

    • NRA Basic Pistol Course Certificate
    • NRA FIRST Steps Course Certificate
    • NRA pistol competitive shooting qualification card
    • Military DD 214 with pistol qualification
  • Completion of both parts (basic and advanced) Personal Protection In The Home
  • We now require a non-refundable deposit on our courses. Mailing address and PayPal address will be provided upon sign up.

Please Bring the following Items With You To Class:

  • Firearm (Revolver or Semi-Automatic)
  • Strong Side Hip Holster that covers the trigger or a Holster Purse (These are the only allowable holsters)
  • Two extra Magazines or Speed loaders
  • A minimum of 300 rounds of Ammunition
  • Mandatory safety equipment: eye protection, ear protection, and billed cap
  • Sack lunch as we may work through the lunch hour
  • Check for NRA Certification Fees
  • Writing materials to take notes
  • Positive attitude and a willingness to learn

October 15, 2011 – NRA Instructor Home Firearms Safety Course

This is an Intructor-Level Course.

The Basic Instructor Training and the Home Firearms Safety Instructors course will be held on October 15th.

If you are looking to become an NRA-certified instructor to teach CHL classes, this is the course for you.

Brief overview of the class you will be certified to teach:


NRA Home Firearm Safety Course
*This course meets the Oregon CHL requirement for safe gun handling.

Short Description : Non-shooting course and teaches students the basic knowledge, skills, and to explain the attitude necessary for the safe handling and storage of firearms and ammunition in the home.

More Details: This is a four-hour course for safe gun handling that is conducted in the classroom only. Students are taught NRA’s three rules for safe gun handling; primary causes of firearms accidents; firearm parts; how to unload certain action types; ammunition components; cleaning; care; safe storage of firearms in the home; and the benefits of becoming an active participant in the shooting sports. Students will receive the NRA Home Firearm Safety handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, course completion certificate.

* To qualify for any NRA Instructor Course, students must first complete the Basic Instructor Training (BIT) course. BIT will be given on the first day of all Instructor-level courses. If you have taken BIT for prior instructor’s ratings you are not required to take it again, but you are required to bring your 2008 or later Trainer’s Guide to the course.

Dates: September 9-11th 2011

For those of you looking to teach a CHL class, this is the course for you.

You will be able to teach two different courses, both of which qualify your student for a CHL in the State of Oregon.


Here is a brief overview of one of the courses you can teach:

Name : NRA FIRST Steps Pistol Orientation

Short Description : Firearm Instruction, Responsibility, and Safety Training — is the NRA’s response to the American public’s need for a firearm orientation program for new purchasers.

More Details: NRA FIRST Steps Pistol is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation to one specific pistol action type for classes of four or fewer students. This course is at least three hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot a specific pistol action type. Students will learn the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; the particular pistol model parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, FIRST Steps Course completion certificate.
